Categories of Cookies We Use
We classify our storage mechanisms into three straightforward categories: Strictly Essential, Functional Preferences, and Performance Telemetry.
To maintain transparency, we categorize all storage mechanisms deployed across the Profilix platform:
- Strictly Essential (Required): Critical for platform operation, secure account authentication, route guarding, and preventing Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF). The Platform cannot function properly without these.
- Functional & Interface Preferences: Remembers your chosen theme (e.g., warm cream or slate dark mode), active studio archetype filters, and collapsed sidebar configurations between sessions.
- Privacy-Preserving Performance Analytics: Measures aggregate platform health, page response times, and anonymous profile view counts without tracking individual users across the Internet.
Functional & UI State Storage
We store your theme selection (warm cream vs. dark mode) and studio editor states locally in your browser to avoid jarring layout shifts.
To ensure an instantaneous, flicker-free interface matching your developer setup, we store interface states in browser localStorage:
- Theme Preferences (
theme): Remembers whether you prefer warm cream light mode, dark mode, or system automatic detection. - Workspace Filter States:Remembers your active portfolio category filter (e.g., “Bento & Creative” vs “Developer & Tech”) and active device preview mode (Desktop vs Mobile).
- Draft Auto-Save: Temporarily caches unsaved resume bullet points or profile edits locally so you never lose work if your connection drops.
Analytics & Privacy-First Telemetry
We count aggregate profile views, QR scans, and resume downloads for your dashboard without tracking you across third-party websites.
One of the core features of Profilix is providing developers with real-time telemetry on their portfolio reach. When a recruiter or visitor visits your portfolio link or scans your QR code:
- Anonymous Counter Tokens:We record lightweight interaction pings (such as “Profile View,” “QR Scan,” or “Resume Download”).
- IP Anonymization: IP addresses are salted and hashed or reduced to country-level geolocation immediately upon arrival. Raw IP addresses are never permanently retained or sold.
- No Retargeting: We do not deploy third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or behavioral tracking SDKs.
Third-Party Services & Integrations
When connecting GitHub or purchasing via Razorpay or Polar.sh, those services may utilize functional cookies to complete the workflow.
When you interact with integrated third-party platforms, they may set their own essential cookies:
- GitHub OAuth: When you connect your GitHub profile to sync stars, repositories, and contributions, GitHub may place session cookies to verify your identity during the OAuth handoff.
- Payment Gateways (Razorpay & Polar.sh): When upgrading to Pro or purchasing a Lifetime Pass, our checkout modal interacts with Razorpay or Polar.sh to securely process your card or UPI payment and prevent fraudulent transactions.
- Cloudinary CDN: Delivers optimized images and QR code PNG buffers with edge caching headers.
